In the preamble to my last post (“An Elegy for the FBI”), I wrote about the 1975 disappearance and murder of former Teamsters President Jimmy Hoffa. Some of you have requested additional information about the government’s investigation of that case.
Here are two short but very informative videos by reporters who covered the Hoffa case.
The first video by reporter Vince Wade debunks “The Irishman”, Martin Scorcese’s award-winning movie about the life of Teamsters thug Frank Sheeran. It’s well done and includes discussion of the investigative role played by my friend and Justice Department mentor, the late Robert Ozer, Chief of the Detroit Organized Crime Strike Force.

The second video by reporter and author Dan Moldea covers the same ground but includes information he gathered from members of La Cosa Nostra. He also gives a fascinating account of his meeting with Robert De Nero who played Sheeran in “The Irishman”. Before the movie was made, Moldea tried to warn De Nero that Sheeran’s story about killing Hoffa was bogus. As you will see, the meeting didn’t go well.
