Yesterday I received an email from the producer at Chicago’s Morning Answer AM 560 inviting me join hosts Dan Proft and Amy Jacobson on air today to discuss the involuntary manslaughter case against Alec Baldwin. Since it’s always a privilege and a pleasure to be on the air with Dan and Amy, I promptly accepted the invitation and began prepping for my appearance. As it turned out, before we got to the Baldwin case, Dan and Amy tossed me a couple of curve balls that required a bit of ad libbing on my part. You can see and hear the...
Yesterday The American Spectator published my article about the death of Ashli Babbitt, who was shot and killed by a police officer during the January 6, 2021 Capitol Hill riot. Here it is. Killing Ashli – The American Spectator | USA News and Politics George Parry “Facts are stubborn things.”— John Adams According to the Biden regime and its supporters in the legacy media, the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol Hill riot resulted in the deaths of five police officers. And, even though one of these died of natural causes and four reportedly committed suicide days and even months after the riot,...
Okay, Kevin McCarthy has been elected Speaker of the House. It took fifteen rounds of voting and concessions by McCarthy to gain the critical votes of his opponents in the House Freedom Caucus (“HFC”). As the week-long deadlock continued, the congressional Democrats gloated and mocked what they called the “Republicans’ inability to govern”. The corporate media deemed the standoff to be a “farce” and a “spectacle”. But to us adults who can recall the long-ago days when Congress actually debated issues and engaged in floor fights to resolve disputes, it looked exactly like how the House should function. So what...
At a White House ceremony on June 25, 2019, President Donald Trump conferred the Congressional Medal of Honor on retired Army Staff Sergeant David Bellavia for his courageous actions during the Second Battle of Fallujah. He is the only living Iraq War combatant to have received the Medal of Honor. You can view that ceremony by clicking on the following picture. In addition to being a brave man, Bellavia is highly intelligent and articulate as evidenced by his thoughtful and inspiring speech delivered the day after the award ceremony. You can access his remarks by clicking on the below picture....
Author’s note: Readers of this blog may be aware of the medical issues that my wife and I have been confronting. It’s been a nightmare, but our health is steadily improving. Nevertheless, although there have been no more hospitalizations, our major activities involve going to physical therapy and visiting doctors’ offices looking for a diagnosis of my wife’s condition. So far there has been a great deal of head scratching by some very smart doctors but no answers yet. As for this blog, the ability to write falls into the category of “use it or lose it” and, because of...
Each Thanksgiving, I post the below piece from the Wall Street Journal. This year, in recognition of the bizarre times we live in, I am including the following bit of inspired satire by the invaluable Babylon Bee: FBI Closely Monitoring Gathering Of Christian Nationalists ROANOKE, VA — The FBI has dispatched surveillance teams after several reports surfaced of Christian Nationalists planning to spend a day thanking God for His blessings and praying for America. “Looks like the turkey’s hit the table, boys,” reported Agent Schwartz to the tactical team. “That means the praying will be inbound shortly if I know...
The last post on this blog discussed, among other things, my recent back surgery which requires me to take inordinate amounts of prednisone for inflammation and oxycodone for pain. So there I was sitting around late Thursday night with a load of oxycodone on board honing my newly acquired skills of drooling and staring vacantly into space. It was then that an email popped up on my cell phone. It was from Quin McCarthy, the affable producer of Chicago’s Morning Answer AM 560, the top-rated drive time radio show in the Chicago media market. It is hosted by the very...
Pictured above are my bride and me on the way to our wedding reception. The date was December 30, 1967. The place: Providence, Rhode Island. We were 23 years old and without a care in the world. I was half way through Georgetown Law and didn’t have a penny to my name. But we had a plan. Natalie was a psych nurse working on a locked ward at the Washington Hospital Center making $4800 a year. Problem solved or so we thought. I had midterm exams coming up right after the New Year. So, when we left the reception, we...
I realize that I have been MIA on the blogging front lately. It has been frustrating not to be able to comment on the many astounding events that have recently come to pass. Let me explain what’s happened. My bride of 55 years and I have been having a few health problems. We feel like a couple of rusted out 1964 Dodge Darts. Every time one of us hits a bump in the road, it seems like a part falls off. Over the past seven weeks, my wife has been repeatedly admitted to the hospital with intractable nausea. Thankfully she’s...
Due to pressing family-related health issues, I have been unable to compose and submit articles to The American Spectator or post on this blog. As much as I have wanted to comment on current events, I have had neither the time nor the focus to do so. But when Joe Biden decided to buy votes in the upcoming midterm elections by cancelling $300,000,000,000 in college student loan debt, I saw an opportunity for a quick post built around one of my old articles and an inspired YouTube video. In 2011, I wrote the below opinion piece which was published by...
In the preamble to my last post (“An Elegy for the FBI”), I wrote about the 1975 disappearance and murder of former Teamsters President Jimmy Hoffa. Some of you have requested additional information about the government’s investigation of that case. Here are two short but very informative videos by reporters who covered the Hoffa case. The first video by reporter Vince Wade debunks “The Irishman”, Martin Scorcese’s award-winning movie about the life of Teamsters thug Frank Sheeran. It’s well done and includes discussion of the investigative role played by my friend and Justice Department mentor, the late Robert Ozer, Chief...
Yesterday, The American Spectator published my article about the FBI’s search of President Trump’s Florida home. When I heard about the raid, I was astounded that the FBI’s leadership was stupid enough to get the agency involved in such a wildly controversial and ill-conceived operation. Despite being part of the Justice Department, the FBI has always maintained its independence when it came to how it deployed its resources. This divide was most apparent when Attorney General Bobby Kennedy tried to assert control over FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover. Since then, the divide between the FBI and DOJ has narrowed a...
Yesterday The American Spectator published my article about the likelihood of the Biden regime arresting and prosecuting President Trump for allegedly instigating the January 6, 2021 Capitol Hill riot. Here it is. The Democrats’ Looming Trial and Conviction of Donald Trump – The American Spectator | USA News and Politics George Parry “DOJ zeroes in on Trump in Jan. 6 criminal probe.” So proclaimed the headline on the front page of the Philadelphia Inquirer. This followed on the heels of Attorney General Merrick Garland’s NBC News interview in which he stated that the Justice Department has not ruled out prosecuting former President Donald Trump...
The daughter of one of my oldest and best friends is a Congressional intern. She recently attended a lecture on Capitol Hill by Drs. Scott Atlas and Jay Bhattacharya. The topic was “COVID Misinformation”. Scott Atlas, M.D. is the Robert Wesson Senior Fellow in health care policy at Stanford University’s Hoover Institution. From 1998 to 2012 he was a professor and chief of neuroradiology at Stanford University Medical Center. He served as a senior advisor to presidential campaigns in 2008, 2012 and 2016. Jay Bhattacharya, M.D. is a professor of medicine at Stanford University Medical School and Director of Stanford’s...
Yesterday The American Spectator published my article regarding the untimely death of Dr. Vladimir Zelenko, a hero of the COVID-19 pandemic. As you will see, the article endorses the efficacy of hydroxychloroquine in the treatment of COVID-19. When I submitted the first iteration of the piece, the editors requested that I supplement it with references to the clinical data and scientific studies that support the use of hydroxychloroquine to treat COVID-19. Given the controversial nature of the subject, this was certainly a reasonable request. So I pulled out my COVID-19 research file and supplemented away. This resulted in doubling the...
