Today The Federalist published an edited version of KIG’s recent post The DNC Lawsuit – Great News for the Defendants under the headline In Trump Conspiracy Lawsuit, Democrats Sicced The Equivalent Of A Special Counsel on Themselves. Be sure to give it a read. It’s always an honor to be published in The Federalist. For you students of history, the above picture is of Alger Hiss and his wife, Prossy, on their way to Alger’s perjury trial in federal court. Prossy was a Bryn Mawr graduate who was believed to have typed transcriptions of some of the State Department cables stolen by...
On August 3, 1948, Time magazine’s associate editor Whittaker Chambers testified before the House Un-American Activities Committee that, in the 1930s, he had been “a member of the Communist Party and a paid functionary of that party.” He told the committee that he had worked with a network of federal employees to bring about “the Communist infiltration of the American government.” He identified former State Department official Alger Hiss as a member of his spy network. Two days later, Hiss appeared before the committee and testified that he was not and never had been a member of the Communist Party, had...
Yesterday’s post McCabe vs. Comey: the Plot Thickens has been published by The American Spectator under the title Andrew McCabe Is Going to Have to Cut a Deal subtitled Which is bad news for “truth teller” James Comey. Amazing how much information the Spectator can pack into a headline. In the above illustration, McCabe is the mouse, and the cat is Comey. It seems that McCabe is back to threatening to sue the president and others for defamation. We can only hope that he goes after Comey for besmirching his reputation for probity and truthfulness. McCabe told the Office of...
Today, the Justice Department’s Office of Inspector General (“OIG”) referred former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Washington, with a recommendation that he should be criminally prosecuted for causing sensitive law enforcement information to be leaked to the Wall Street Journal and then repeatedly telling lies to investigators and former FBI Director James Comey about having done so. The OIG’s previous report detailed how McCabe authorized an anonymous leak calculated to make it appear that he had resisted pressure by Loretta Lynch’s Justice Department to close down the FBI’s investigation of the Clinton Foundation during the 2016...
Today, eleven Members of Congress made a criminal referral to the Justice Department and FBI against members of the FBI who used the unverified dossier compiled by former British spy Christopher Steele and paid for by the Clinton presidential campaign and the Democratic National Committee to obtain Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court warrants to spy on the Trump campaign and presidency. The lawmakers also referred former Attorney General Loretta Lynch and others for threats made against an FBI informant who provided information on the Russian nuclear industry and the approval in 2010 to sell roughly 20 percent of American uranium mining assets...
Today’s recommended top online offering comes to us from Commentary under the title “Eating Their Own”. Here’s the link. It seems that recently two young black men asked to use the bathroom at the Starbucks Coffee on Philadelphia’s Rittenhouse Square. They were advised that they could not unless they made a purchase. The young men declined and then sat down to wait for a business associate. They were told they had to leave, and, when they refused, police were summoned. When they refused police requests to leave, they were arrested. This has triggered days of protests organized by Black Lives...
Once again The American Spectator has honored KIG by publishing today’s post “Taxes Are Due – Time to Pay The Man” under the headline “Good Luck With Your Tax Return – You’ll Need It.” Be sure to check it out. Just in case the IRS reads the Spectator, we are taking appropriate evasive measures as shown above. The deadline for filing your federal tax return and paying your taxes has arrived. According to the Tax Foundation, as of 2014, the Internal Revenue Code and Regulations exceeded 9,000 pages at an average of 450 words per page. A Microsoft Word Count of the Code and Regs came out to nearly 4,000,000 words. And these are not just any words. As a lawyer who gets paid to read and interpret impenetrable legal writing, I can share with you my professional opinion that the IRS Code and Regs are absolutely incomprehensible gibberish. Chimpanzees on acid banging hammers on laptops could...
The American Spectator has again honored KIG by publishing yesterday’s post “Leaking and Lies at the FBI” under the much better title “Andrew McCabe and James Comey Deserve Each Other”. Be sure to check it out. As usual, the readers’ comments are lively and interesting. You can also access the article at the Real Clear Politics website. According to the just released report by the Justice Department’s Office of Inspector General, former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe wrongfully caused sensitive law enforcement information to be leaked to the Wall Street Journal and then lied to investigators about having done so. The report runs thirty-five single spaced pages and lays out in excruciating, meticulous and damning detail how McCabe authorized an anonymous leak calculated to make it appear that he had resisted pressure by Loretta Lynch’s Justice Department to close down the FBI’s investigation of the Clinton Foundation during the 2016 election campaign and then proceeded to cover...
As part of KIG’s ongoing service to bring the best of the internet to its readers, here are today’s recommendations. First up is “The Trump Resistance is the greatest show in town” by Roger Kimball of Spectator USA, a relatively new website which is an offshoot of the British Spectator UK site. It offers a fresh perspective on American politics and society. The Trump resistance piece is brilliant and hilarious. For example, in describing the motives behind the Trump resistance movement, Kimball offers this observation: “You can understand their anguish. Someone they did not favor was elected president of the...
Here’s a five minute YouTube video of Senator Ted Cruz questioning Mark Zuckerberg about Facebook’s leftist bias and its suppression of non-party line content. As with all good cross examination, the witness’ answers are irrelevant. The fact-based questions answer themselves. Zuckerberg’s scripted and dithering answers and nervous lip licking only reinforce the impression that Cruz’s questions are hitting the target and that Zuckerberg can’t be trusted. Hopefully the social media robber barons who believe they have the right to eliminate all political views with which they disagree will take notice. Yesterday was a warning shot. Whether it will cause them...
Brit Hume (@brithume) 4/10/18, 9:13 AM “These people are thugs with law degrees.” thefederalist.com/2018/04/10/rob… Thank you, Brit Hume, for tweeting and linking to my article “Mueller Laid a Trap” in The Federalist. Like a whale straining the sea for plankton, KIG searches the internet for the best commentaries of the day. This new service is part of KIG’s campaign to end OES (Online Eye Strain). It does the reading and sifting so you don’t have to. Here’s today’s catch: Melissa Mackenzie at The American Spectator puts the FBI raid of Michael Cohen’s law office into its proper context. Check out her column here. It’s a terrific piece of writing and well worth reading. And Victor Davis Hanson explains why the President’s efforts to restructure our trade and tariff policies, immigration practices and...
Today The Federalist is featuring my article about Robert Mueller’s meaningless and deceptive designation of the president as a “subject” instead of a “target” of the special counsel’s investigation. In it, I repeat my warning to the president’s lawyers that Team Muller is out to destroy their client by any means necessary and is comprised of “thugs with law degrees”. Those observations were written well before yesterday’s outrageous FBI raid of the president’s personal lawyer’s office and home. Lawless thugs indeed. Johnny Carson’s Carnac the Magnificent used magical powers to read the contents of the sealed envelopes. But no magical powers are...
