Pictured above is an artist’s conception of Russian President Vladimir Putin plotting the election of Donald Trump. In light of this revealing artwork, sources expect Special Counsel Robert Mueller to indict Rocky the Flying Squirrel and Bullwinkle in order to force them to testify against President Trump. Hey, that wouldn’t be any sillier than his two make believe indictments of Russian operatives. And then, we have this excellent piece by former British newspaper publisher Conrad Black: “When the cant and emotionalism subside, the Helsinki summit will go down in history as a turning point in this American president’s struggle to […]
Pearl Harbor. Kristallnacht. Treason. High crimes and misdemeanors. These are some of the hyperventilating left’s overheated and ludicrous characterizations of President Trump’s remarks at his Helsinki press conference with Vladmir Putin. Listening to the Democrats and their wholly owned media subsidiary, you would have thought that Trump had (a) smilingly handed Putin a large red “reset” button or (b) had been caught on a hot mic during a global nuclear security summit murmuring to Putin’s representative that, after the midterm elections, he would have more flexibility in his dealings with Russia or (c) had signed off on a deal to […]
“The dogma lives loudly within you, and that’s of concern.” So said Senator Dianne Feinstein (D.CA.) after she had finished her outrageous and shameful interrogation of Notre Dame law professor Amy Coney Barrett about whether Barrett’s Catholic faith rendered her unfit to be a federal judge. Despite Feinstein’s best efforts to expose Barrett’s putatively unacceptable and subversive Catholic beliefs, in September 2017, the Senate Judiciary Committee nevertheless confirmed her appointment to a seat on the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals. So far, the Republic has withstood the blow. But now, with President Trump’s nomination of D.C. Circuit Judge Brett Kavanaugh […]
Tonight President Trump nominated D.C. Circuit Court Judge Brett Kavanaugh to serve on the Supreme Court. A graduate of Yale college and law school, Kavanaugh clerked for Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy and teaches law at Harvard, Yale and Georgetown. Since 2006 he has served with distinction on the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals, the second highest tribunal in the nation. So, of course, the Democrats and their media adjunct have already deemed him to be unqualified for a position on the Supreme Court and are screaming for his scalp. Here, courtesy of WikiLeaks, is the Democratic National Committee’s opposition […]
Like sharks thrashing about in chum-filled bloody water, the unhinged hysterics of the progressive left have gone into a frenzy as they prepare to attack whoever President Trump nominates to replace retiring Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy. Thanks to Kennedy’s retirement, Trump is now in a position to appoint a non-activist, strict constructionist to the Court. Senate confirmation of the nominee will result in a solid, reliably conservative Court majority. Needless to say, the Democrats in the Senate and their leftist supporters view this as the coming of the Apocalypse. But it was the triumphant Democrats who, during the heady […]
Believe it or not, pictured above is an actual Special Agent of the FBI. Her name is Sally Moyer a/k/a “Agent 5” in the recently issued report by the Justice Department’s Office of Inspector General regarding the FBI’s fake investigation of Hillary Clinton’s private unsecured email server. While she was busily helping to exonerate Clinton, she found time to text message her political views about presidential candidate Donald Trump. Moyer’s political views were deep, sophisticated and nuanced. Here’s a taste: “f**k Trump”, Trump voters were “retarded”, and, if Trump won the election, she was “gonna be walking around with both […]
Yesterday Congressman Trey Gowdy appeared on Fox News Sunday to explain the devastating significance of the Office of Inspector General’s recent report. Watch the whole fifteen minutes. It’s an inspired performance guaranteed to raise your spirits. Gowdy pronounces James Comey utterly worthless as a prosecution witness and lays out the obvious bias behind the FBI’s exoneration of Hillary Clinton before it had completed its investigation of her private email server. Gowdy also broke news by disclosing a Friday night showdown between the leadership of the House of Representatives (including Speaker Paul Ryan) and FBI Director Christopher Wray and Deputy Attorney General […]
It seems like a day doesn’t go by without some female high school teacher getting arrested for having sexual relations with an underage student. The story line is always the same. Ms. Hotpants either gets caught in the act or because her student paramour shares with the world the naked selfies that for some weird reason she just had to send to his cell phone. Invariably the teacher is quickly and unceremoniously condemned, fired from her job and arrested. This sequence of events always seemed appropriate. But, having had the benefit of reading the recent report by the Justice Department’s […]
MUELLER’S GRAYMAIL FOLLIES: BIG BOB MAKES A MESS AND SWIMS IN IT
On February 16, 2018, Special Counsel Robert Mueller obtained a federal indictment of 13 Russian nationals and 3 Russian companies for conspiring to wage “information warfare” by “impairing, obstructing, and defeating the lawful functions of the United States by dishonest means in order to enable Defendants to interfere with U.S. political processes, including the 2016 presidential election.” The indictment was heralded by the media as a major achievement by Team Mueller. But a few observers questioned whether Mueller truly expected any of the defendants to appear in a U.S. court to answer the charges. Others asked if the indictment was […]
The above picture shows my wife’s Uncle Charlie landing on Utah Beach seventy-four years ago today. He is the soldier in the right foreground. He made it off the beach and fought across France and into Germany before the war in Europe ended. Despite being in the thick of the fighting, he survived and returned home to raise a family and live in peace. Like most of his generation of war fighters, Uncle Charlie said very little about his combat experiences. One day, however, over drinks, he quietly reflected that “D-Day in Normandy was the noisiest day of my life. […]
TWOFER TUESDAY: KIG HITS THE BIG TIME IN THE PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER AND THE AMERICAN SPECTATOR
This morning, out of the blue, I received a request from an editor at the Philadelphia Inquirer for an opinion piece about President Trump withdrawing the White House invitation to the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles. It’s just been published online and will be in the print edition tomorrow morning. As you may imagine, Trump’s action has been condemned by one and all in the frenzied Philadelphia media market. Take a look at the post of my article on Philly.com (the Inky’s website). I approve of the president’s actions, and so far half my email traffic from the devoted Inky […]
In the early 1970s, when I was a freshly minted Special Attorney with the Organized Crime and Racketeering Section of the U.S. Justice Department, my fellow newly hired colleagues and I attended a lecture at Main Justice given by John Dowd, a well-regarded veteran prosecutor. His topic was the then little known and almost never used Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act. Dowd explained in detail the vast sweep of the statute and described the mind-boggling powers that Congress had conferred on us. In those long gone days of limited federal jurisdiction, we had a hard time processing what […]
MESSAGE TO MUELLER, DANCE FEVER AT THE FBI, AND MY STROKE GOES BIG TIME
In January 2018, President Trump’s lawyers wrote to Special Counsel Robert Mueller setting forth the reasons why the President is not subject to interrogation by Mueller and his band of Hillary Clinton supporters. Here’s the link. It is long, detailed and well footnoted. Basically it takes the position that Mueller cannot demonstrate a compelling need to interview the President since the information to be obtained by questioning Mr. Trump has already been made available through alternative sources. Trump’s lawyers argue that, under applicable case law, without being able to demonstrate such a compelling need, Mueller cannot compel the President to […]
Today Fox News published an opinion piece by my friend Kevin Ferris titled The incredible ceremony honoring ALL who have served — even those veterans with no family to mourn for them. Here’s the opening part: It’s the last Thursday of the month. By 1:30 p.m. on this blue sky April afternoon, the faithful are lining up behind the administration building of the Washington Crossing National Cemetery in Bucks County, Pa. “Here for the ‘Unattended’?” one man asks another. “Unattended” is shorthand for an act of grace on the part of the cemetery’s staff, its volunteers, and hundreds of other […]
Three weeks ago I had a stroke. Fortunately, it was a mild one, and I’m fully recovered. But let me share with you the details so that, hopefully, you will have a better idea than I did about what to do if it ever happens to you. My risk factors were almost non-existent. Although for years my diet has been that of an adolescent carnivore, my cholesterol and blood pressure have always been low. I exercise moderately, am slightly overweight, and do not have diabetes or a history of heart disease. I have one definite risk factor which is my […]
