Pictured above is the 28 foot high bronze sculpture Angel of the Resurrection which stands in Philadelphia’s 30th Street Station. It portrays Michael the Archangel lifting up a dead soldier from the flames of war. At its base are two inscriptions which read: IN MEMORY OF THE MEN AND WOMEN OF THE PENNSYLVANIA RAILROAD WHO LAID DOWN THEIR LIVES FOR OUR COUNTRY 1941-1945. THAT ALL TRAVELERS HERE MAY REMEMBER THOSE OF THE PENNSYLVANIA RAILROAD WHO DID NOT RETURN FROM THE SECOND WORLD WAR. There are four bronze plaques listing the 1,307 names of the dead. The memorial was dedicated in 1952 by […]
Yesterday, The American Spectator published my article about the trial of Clinton campaign lawyer Michael Sussmann. He has been charged with making a false statement to former FBI General Counsel James Baker. As expected, Sussmann elected not to testify in his own defense. The case has gone to the jury which will resume deliberations when the court reconvenes after Memorial Day. Here’s the article. Michael Sussmann Remains Silent – The American Spectator | USA News and Politics George Parry Ordinarily, in a criminal trial, the jury wants to hear from the accused. Although the court will instruct that no negative […]
Yesterday The American Spectator published my article about the massacre at the Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas. After it was published, Texas officials announced that an armed police officer had been wounded trying to keep the killer from entering the school. Since that announcement cut to the heart of my argument against gun-free zones, I banged out an emergency rewrite and sent it to the AmSpec. But, before the rewrite went live online, those same officials changed their story. Their current version is that no police officer was at the school, the front door was unlocked and, to all […]
I’m working against the clock on a couple of articles for The American Spectator while preparing to report on Monday for federal jury duty. I’m obligated to attend court for two days or one trial. I would be surprised if any counsel would be dumb enough to pick me – a retired lawyer with 50 years of trial experience – to serve on a jury. But we live in strange times, and you never know. So, if I get picked, it may be a while before you hear from me. In the meantime, with the arrival of warm weather, the […]
On March 4, 2020, then Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) stood before an angry crowd of pro abortion demonstrators outside the Supreme Court and threatened President Trump’s appointees to the court, Justices Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh. “I want to tell you, Gorsuch; I want to tell you, Kavanaugh: You have released the whirlwind, and you will pay the price,” Schumer said while the court was hearing arguments in a Louisiana abortion case. “You won’t know what hit you if you go forward with these awful decisions.” Here’s Schumer, a graduate of Harvard Law School, in action: This prompted […]
Years ago, I had the privilege of representing a young Lower Merion Township, Pennsylvania police officer who shot and killed another young man who had just robbed a convenience store on Philadelphia’s Main Line. The evidence established that the robber had driven away from the crime scene at a high rate of speed and was chased down and surrounded by Lower Merion police on City Avenue, the border between the township and the City of Philadelphia. The suspect sat in his car ignoring repeated commands to show his hands. He then suddenly exited his vehicle and charged directly at my […]
The Disney Divorce
Over the years my wife and I have stayed many times at Walt Disney World with our children and grandchildren. Our first trip to a Disney theme park was in the 1970s when we took our three little girls for a day visit at Disneyland in Anaheim, California. The highlight of the visit was when I was waiting with our oldest child (then three years old) outside a Disney store where my wife had taken our other girls to do some shopping. That’s when a hi-ho-hi-ho conga line of Snow White’s dwarves sporting gigantic plaster heads and elongated shoes with […]
In the middle of packing up to leave our winter quarters in Florida, I took a break to watch the sunset over the Gulf of Mexico. Thus inspired, I banged out a quick piece about the ominous implications of the Biden regime’s practice of “walking back” its demented leader’s witless public pronouncements. I sent it to The American Spectator which published it yesterday. The article discusses, among other statements, Biden’s Warsaw speech in which he announced that Vladimir Putin was a “butcher” who “cannot remain in power” and his regime’s scrambling to unconvincingly explain that he was not calling for […]
Joe Biden’s War
Yesterday The American Spectator published my article about the war in Ukraine. In it I question Joe Biden’s mental competency and his murky financial ties to the combatant nations. The article was featured by Real Clear Politics, made its “Most Read” list, and has gone viral. It has generated a tidal wave of reader comments and emails most of which have been positive. But my favorite response was an email from somebody calling himself “Marvin”. Here in its entirety is a slightly cleaned up version: “You’re a f***ing idiot and a goddamn (sic) liar to boot.” Editor’s note: Since “goddamn” […]
The Cuban Missile Crisis
I want to thank all of you who have noted my absence from these pages and have inquired about my well-being. I’m in the Free State of Florida enjoying the weather and spending time with old friends. I have been trying to write an appropriate commentary about the unfolding disaster in Ukraine as Joe Biden sleep walks us into World War III. It’s slow going. I’m not particularly knowledgeable about international relations and military strategy. While I have strong opinions about Biden’s performance, my draft articles have been no more authoritative than the kind of drunken bloviating you could hear […]
Below is my article published in yesterday’s The American Spectator. It discusses the Canadian truckers’ protests against provincial and federal Covid mandates and the dictatorial repressive measures Prime Minister Justin Trudeau used to crush the protesters. My first hand knowledge of Canada dates back to the 1970s while I was assigned to the Justice Department’s Buffalo Organized Crime Strike Force. Back then, it was common for U.S. and Canadian citizens to cross the border to dine out, go shopping and play tourist. Professionally I worked with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police on a series of mob-related investigations. In the process, […]
Yesterday The American Spectator published my article regarding Special Counsel John Durham’s recent motion in the Michael Sussmann case. The motion, which seeks an inquiry as to whether Sussmann’s lawyers have a conflict of interest, contains an explosive factual summary of evidence gathered by Durham’s office establishing, among other things, that Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign conducted a full fledged electronic spying operation against candidate and then President Donald Trump. This operation included accessing the White House computer servers in an effort to gather derogatory evidence about Trump. As I say in the article, compared to this nefarious scheme, the Watergate […]
The Avenatti Strip Show
Here’s my latest from The American Spectator. It discusses the falling out between lawyer Michael Avenatti and his former client, stripper Stormy Daniels. As you may recall, they rose to national prominence based on Daniels’ claim that, in 2006, she had a one-night sexual encounter with Donald Trump. But now Avenatti is on trial in federal court for allegedly defrauding Daniels. The picture above is a courtroom artist’s sketch of Avenatti cross-examining Daniels. Here’s the article. Hope you enjoy it. The Avenatti Strip Show – The American Spectator | USA News and Politics George Parry Once upon a time, a […]
I want to thank all of you who have noted my recent absence from these pages and took the time to inquire about my well-being. Fear not. I’m in the Free State of Florida hanging out on the beach and in watering holes swapping war stories with old friends. No masks, vaccine passports or Covid restrictions of any kind. It’s like a time trip back to an America that existed before the Wuhan lab leak. Thanks to two days of rain and chilly (65 degrees F) weather, I finally found time to sit down and bang out a piece that […]
Here’s my latest which was published yesterday by The American Spectator. Nancy Pelosi’s Subpoena Trap – The American Spectator | USA News and Politics George Parry “Since my first day in office, I have promised Justice Department employees that together we would show the American people by word and deed that the department adheres to the rule of law, follows the facts and the law, and pursues equal justice under the law. Today’s charges reflect the department’s steadfast commitment to these principles.” So said Attorney General Merrick Garland as he announced the indictment of Stephen Bannon on two counts of […]
