Greetings from the Free State of Florida. My wife and I arrived here two days ago and are still in the process of unpacking and getting organized. I hadn’t planned on posting anything until next week, but, when I saw Senator Josh Hawley’s cross-examination of Attorney General Merrick Garland, I decided to take a break and share with you the below video.
The vast majority of Senators and Members of the House are terrible interrogators. All too often their questions are unfocused and poorly worded. Their deliveries and attempts to control the witnesses are even worse.
When I watch these inartful and amateurish interrogations, I want to start yelling at the television screen.
There are exceptions among our elected representatives. Texas’ Senator Ted Cruz is pretty good, and Louisiana’s Senator John Kennedy is at once amiable and polite but devastating. But, from the standpoint of pure courtroom-style cross-examination, Missouri’s Josh Hawley is the leader of the pack.
As you may recall, I recently posted two pieces titled “Killing the Monkey to Scare the Chickens” and “Your FBI in War, Peace and Religion – Shutting Down the Tunnel to Rome”. They discussed the woke FBI and Justice Department’s treatment of traditional pro-life Catholics as domestic terrorists.
The first article discussed the arrest and prosecution of family man and devout Catholic Mark Houck (pictured above with his wife and children).
The second article discussed an internal FBI memo calling for the infiltration of the Catholic Church with informants and surveillance of parish churches to monitor possible terrorist activities.
Subsequent to the publishing of those articles in The American Spectator, Senator Hawley cross-examined Attorney General Garland on those very topics.
While I would like to think that my articles in some way prompted Hawley, I know better. Moreover, as the Grey Nuns of the Sacred Heart taught me in grade school, false pride is a sin. Nevertheless, I got a real kick out of Hawley dragging Garland across the coals with sharp, pointed and well-crafted questions.
So how well did Hawley do? You can judge for yourself by clicking on the picture below.
You’re in for a treat.
